Own Country... "I have always regarded New Zealand as home, a haven from the rest of the places I have lived over the last 25 years. Over those years I have returned to New Zealand every year at least once and watched as the country and it's cities grew from strength to strength in most areas, managed to exaserbate problems that were here when I grew up and developed some of the harmful trends of the rest of the world. Not the least of which being, how busy we have all become. Everybody suffers when we get too busy, ourselves, our children, our parents, our friends and our relationships suffer. Another big one for me is the lack of respect that is shown, partner to partner, man to woman (and visa versa of course) father to son, son to father etc. I was lucky enough to be a writer of the song You're the Voice, which is in essence an anti -war song (perfect for now ! ). Whenever I sing this song, or hear John Farnham sing it, I realise how powerful music can be. I'm coming to New Zealand with 4 fantastic Norwegian musicians that I have been working with for 3 years, to create and record some music inspired by New Zealand and its many aspects. Everything is being recorded for a documentary, a CD and a DVD. We hope that through the music and its various messages, we can all rediscover a little of what's really important in our lives, and of course show the rest of the world that New Zealand is indeed, God's own country, a country that I loved growing up in and inspires me every time I return." |
